Until now discerning a particular vocation may well have been quite private and may not go any further. However if the call to lay service – I want to do something but not sure what - is strong and persistent then the next step can be to ask the Church to help in the discernment of a lay vocation and what opportunities are open to consideration.
It is suggested that you approach a priest or another person of faith who is known and trusted and ask them to help see the Lord’s hand at work in my life and to recognise the way in which He is guiding and calling you.
Your parish can advise and provide the opportunity to explore a lay vocation.
- The Church has a whole host of vacancies and opportunities – but they don’t get advertised in the usual way.
- The Church is not so much interested in recruitment as discernment: along which particular path is God asking me to journey?
